Stefon Diggs demonstrated his competitive spirit by unfollowing his brother, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, on Instagram after moving to the same state following his trade to the Houston Texans.
Diggs joins the Buffalo Bills in 2020, having begun his career with the Minnesota Vikings in 2015. He was drafted in the fifth round and has since emerged as one of the NFL’s top receivers.
The 30-year-old has helped the Bills reach the playoffs for the past three seasons. However, they have yet to make it to the Super Bowl, despite being widely regarded as one of the teams capable of winning. Diggs now hopes to assist Houston’s ace quarterback, C. J. Stroud, in bringing the Lombardi Trophy to Houston.
Now that he is in the same state as his brother Trevon, Diggs is taking the Houston-Dallas rivalry seriously. He has quit following his brother on Instagram and now only follows four accounts: Stroud, receiver Tank Dell, the official Texans account, and his own fashion line, Liem Homme.
The Texans struggled during the 2023 season, ending with only three victories, 13 losses, and one draw. However, they turned things around and finished with 10 wins and seven losses, enough to win the AFC South title.
Stroud performed admirably, setting records for most passing yards in a game by a rookie (470), most throws without an interception to begin a career (191), and tied for the most throwing touchdowns in a game by a rookie (5). He later helped the Texans win a playoff game against the Cleveland Browns.
Diggs will undoubtedly want to get along with Stroud after his relationship with Josh Allen deteriorated. Allen and Diggs struggled during the 2022 AFC Divisional Round defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals. Their troubles were widely discussed after the season concluded, and Diggs, who caught almost as many receptions in 2023 as he did in 2022, did not gain as many yards last season as he did the previous year. Allen and Diggs’ combinations didn’t appear to be as effective.
On Wednesday, Diggs said an emotional goodbye to Buffalo, his Bills teammates, and the fans via Instagram. He remarked, “I can’t begin to describe how much I love and respect the city of Buffalo. The city warmly welcomed me for four of the happiest years of my life. I am eternally grateful to you all and the @buffalobills organization!
“Something wonderful was created throughout the years with some very great men, and it will always have a place in my heart. Billsmafia, so many wonderful memories throughout the years. Those games were insane because of you. Unfortunately, wonderful things come to an end till we meet again.
