HUGE BLOW: Huge Reactions From Superdome After Saint Announced They Could Trade $97 Million Star to Baltimore Raven Due Fianancial Constraint

Marshon Lattimore, the New Orleans Saints cornerback, has been the target of trade rumors for much of the offseason. The four-time Pro Bowler, who is now 27 years old, has only one year of guaranteed money left on his contract and has missed significant time the last two seasons. However, when healthy, he remains one of football’s best cornerbacks.

The cash-strapped Saints are hoping to win this year, but they may have no choice but to trade Marshon Lattimore. As of this writing, the team is predicted to be $73.9 million over the 2025 salary ceiling and may be unable to maintain Lattimore and his cost hit past the 2024 season. With this in mind, Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton believes the Saints could deal their star cornerback to the Baltimore Ravens.

Ravens Named Top Trade Destination for Marshon Lattimore
It’s understandable why the Ravens would want to trade for Marshon Lattimore. The squad did not lose any cornerbacks in free agency, but it did lose numerous key defensive players. Rather than trying to find cheaper replacements for players like Jadeveon Clowney, Geno Stone, and Patrick Queen, Baltimore may reduce their value by strengthening the secondary. After all, improved coverage requires the quarterback to hold the ball for longer periods of time, allowing pass rushers such as Kyle Van Noy to make more plays.

Meanwhile, if the Saints move Marshon Lattimore after June 1st, they will free up little under $4 million in 2024 cap space. This isn’t a lot of money, but the major savings will arrive in 2025. According to OverTheCap, a cut after June 1st would free up $20.7 million in 2025 cap space.

2024 Trade Rumors: Marshon Lattimore to the Ravens? - Canal Street Chronicles
If Marshon Lattimore is available for trade, the Ravens will not be the only team interested in getting him. While the former first-round pick’s performance has slipped in recent years, he remains a viable starter when healthy. Given that L’Jarius Sneed only cost a 2025 third-round pick, a team should be willing to trade a Day 3 pick for the four-time Pro Bowler.
