HUGE CONFLICT: Saint Head Coach Brutal Clash Sean Payton over Star QB – “We’ll See” If $40 Million Star Is Traded

Everyone in the world expected Sean Payton to trade for Taysom Hill after signing with the Denver Broncos. It’s easy to understand why, as the former Saints head coach appears to be obsessed with what the former undrafted free agent can offer to the table. Since entering the NFL, New Orleans has used the BYU product as a quarterback, tight end, and special teams star, while also awarding him a four-year, $40 million contract.

Payton granted Taysom Hill that huge deal while he was still with the Saints, but the team has yet to trade him. However, his time at the club could be coming to an end. When asked about a potential trade at the NFL owner’s meeting, head coach Dennis Allen did not exactly defend his player.

“No, that conversation (about a Taysom Hill deal) has not been initiated. Look, I believe Sean has attempted to get everyone to accompany him to Denver, so we’ll see.”

Dennis Allen: “We’ll see” If Taysom Hill Trade Happens
It’s worth mentioning that Allen smirked before responding, and his remark of Payton dealing for every Saint was obvious hyperbole, so take the comment with a grain of salt. However, every joke contains some truth, and a Taysom Hill deal would make a lot of sense in New Orleans.

As of this publishing, the Swiss Army knife has a $15.79 million cap hit. This is a lot of money for any team, but it’s extremely concerning for the Saints. The Saints are usually drowning in salary cap debt, and releasing Taysom Hill after June 1st will free up $10 million in much-needed cost space.

While the Broncos are undoubtedly the most likely target, they will not be the only team interested in a Taysom Hill move. Even if it’s just a late-round selection trade, multiple teams should be at least intrigued in the versatile offensive weapon.
