SWAP DEAL: Dallas Cowboys Have Offered QB Dak Prescott in a Swap Deal to Land Saint 4 x Pro Bowl And Former MVP Candidate

Dak Prescott has received almost consistent support from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones since discussions about his first extension began over a decade ago.

That is, publicly backed.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words About Dak Prescott’s Future
Dak Prescott has apparently failed to engage in contract talks with the Dallas Cowboys, after restructuring his contract again earlier this summer.

Jerry Jones has continued to praise the Mississippi State alum each year, recently naming Prescott as one of the great quarterbacks who have yet to win a Super Bowl but are completely capable of doing so.

Are the Dallas Cowboys confident in Dak Prescott’s long-term prospects?

NFL Exec Claims Cowboys Are Tanking to Keep QB Dak Prescott
The Jones family will likely be unhappy with another early playoff loss, this time at the hands of the surging Green Bay Packers, headed by Jordan Love, who appear to have found yet another franchise quarterback.

Dallas’ decision not to re-sign Prescott after a borderline MVP-caliber regular season in 2023 would be a bold one, but you never know what possibilities and scenarios will arise in the National Football League. In less than a year, Russell Wilson went from Sean Payton’s resurrection project to benchwarmer, then cut-ee.

And if the Cowboys struggle in 2024, especially after a generally dismal free agency offseason, who knows where “America’s Team” will be in terms of quarterback drafting in 2025.

Pro Bowler to replace Dak Prescott as Cowboys franchise quarterback?
Christopher Kline of FanSided has proposed a trade in which the Dallas Cowboys acquire Derek Carr, who is currently with the New Orleans Saints.

“If Prescott leaves, this could be the Cowboys’ best opportunity to get a proven starter. Derek Carr has four Pro Bowl appearances on his resume. He’s a high-volume gunner who isn’t hesitant to make aggressive throws and can create explosive plays.

Derek Carr is asking for a world of hurt with matchup against former team

While Kline’s analysis is correct, and Carr did have his own MVP-caliber year in 2016, leading the (then) Oakland Raiders to a 13-3 record before an injury forced him out of the playoffs, where the Raiders eventually lost to the Houston Texans, replacing Prescott with someone as divisive as Derek Carr would be a potential PR nightmare for the Cowboys.

Not to mention that, really, aside from perhaps saving on contract expense, there are few, if any, areas where Carr is a legitimate upgrade over Dak. Most, like me, see this as a parallel move at best, with many believing that Prescott still has the higher upside, built-in connection with the receivers, and team respect.

However, it is probably feasible. However, I believe the more likely scenario is that a new quarterback will be drafted in 2024 or 2025.
