The 2024 NFL Draft is just over a week away, so this is the final week for prospects to visit with teams. The New Orleans Saints made sure to capitalize by recently welcoming one of the draft class’s most interesting prospects for a top-30 visit. It was claimed that Western Kentucky receiver Malachi Corley was with the Saints on Monday.
Corley is a receiver prospect who has been connected to New Orleans throughout the draft process due to his compatibility with the team’s offence. If he makes his way to New Orleans, it will be a terrific relationship for him, the organization, and the fans.
Saints welcome Malachi Corley for a top-30 visit.
Corley has been described as a running back stuck within a wide receiver. That’s because of his 5-foot-11, 215-pound frame and excellent run-after-catch skills. Once Corley has the ball in his hands, he can perform magic. In four years at Western Kentucky, he caught 259 passes for 3,035 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 16 times, covering 92 yards.
Naturally, given his size and skill set, his professional equivalent is Deebo Samuel. That is one of the main reasons why the Saints were considered a good fit for Corley. Klint Kubiak, New Orleans’ new offensive coordinator, worked last season as the 49ers’ passing game coordinator. He has firsthand experience utilizing players with Samuel’s skill set.
If the Saints choose Malachi Corley, he will fill the void left by Michael Thomas at receiver. Aside from filling in as a receiver, Corley will be another flexible weapon in an offence that already has a few. With Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill returning, two players who excel at carrying and catching the ball, Kubiak and the Saints would be able to use some unusual packages if they added Malachi Corley.
