Tennessee received a 2025 commitment on Thursday, adding Alabama defensive back Sidney Walton to the class. Walton becomes the third defensive back in the class, after Tyler Redmond and Dylan Lewis.
Walton communicated his decision via X.
According to 247Sports, Walton is a three-star prospect. He is ranked 453rd overall and the 37th ranked safety prospect in the USA. Walton is from Moody, Alabama. He choose Tennessee over Arkansas and Ole Miss. Walton also had offers from Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia, and Missouri, among others. He was on campus on April 6th for an unofficial visit and committed barely two weeks later.
Tennessee offered on September 9th, marking his first SEC offer. Last fall, Walton visited Knoxville for the Austin Peay, Texas A&M, and Georgia games. He returned in January for a junior day celebration.
Last year, as a junior, the 6-1, 185-pound prospect recorded 39 tackles. Walton was also credited with 28 pass breakups and one forced fumble this season. Walton, listed as a safety, could potentially be a good fit for Tennessee’s STAR position.
Following the pledge, Tennessee rises to 14th in the early class of 2025 rankings, according to 247Sports.
