It’s safe to say Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard didn’t want to attend Coachella this year.
Lillard led the Bucks to a Game 1 victory over the Indiana Pacers at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series.
Following the game, Lillard was asked about returning to the playoffs after a two-year absence. Lillard stated he had attended Coachella, an annual outdoor music event held in April.
“Not making the playoffs for the past two years sucked. Early vacations. Last year, I attended Coachella. I’ve never been able to attend to Coachella while playing in the playoffs every year. “I was over it,” Lillard said.
Lillard clearly played like he was glad to be back in the playoffs. The 33-year-old scored 35 points in the first half of the 109-94 game.
Lillard’s scoring spree had Bucks fans ecstatic on social media.
The Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard’s former team, had been among the league’s worst the previous two seasons. They finished in the West’s bottom three in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
From 2014 to 2021, Lillard was a constant playoff presence. He averaged 25.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 61 postseason appearances during that time.
