BREAKING NEWS: NFL Are Set To Have Heisman Trophy Returned To Former Saints Star

Reggie Bush is finally reclaiming what is rightly his.

According to ESPN, the former New Orleans Saints star’s 2005 Heisman Trophy would be “reinstated” on Wednesday, nearly 15 years after he relinquished it.

The Heisman Trust will returning the trophy due to “enormous changes in the college football landscape,” according to the story.

Bush won the 2005 Heisman Trophy, one of the most prominent amateur sports honours given yearly to the best player in college football, after accumulating 2,890 all-purpose yards and 19 total touchdowns during Southern California’s national championship season.

He returned the award following severe sanctions against the USC football team, which included Bush getting illicit advantages while with the program.

Bush played an important role in the Saints’ franchise resurgence. New Orleans took him with the second overall pick in the 2006 draft, and he was part of the squad that helped the Saints win the Super Bowl in 2009.

He played his first five professional seasons in New Orleans, where he gained 4,232 yards from scrimmage and scored 19 rushing and receiving touchdowns.

“Personally, I’m thrilled to reunite with my fellow Heisman winners and be a part of the storied legacy of the Heisman Trophy, and I’m honoured to return to the Heisman family,” Bush said in a statement to ESPN. “I also look forward to working together with the Heisman Trust to advance the values and mission of the organization.”
