Louisville’s head coach, Pat Kelsey, has granted a scholarship to one of the top talents in the 2025 class. Highland School forward Nate Ament of Warrenton, Virginia, accepted the Cardinals’ offer on Tuesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-9 Ament is a 247Sports Composite five-star prospect and 247Sports’ No. 13 overall prospect nationally.
Louisville joins a long list of programs that include Creighton, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and a number of others. The Cardinals have a link with incoming assistant coach Thomas Carr and his time.
Eric Bossi, 247Sports’ National Recruiting Director, gave a scouting report on the highly sought-after player.
“Ament is a guy who burst onto the national scene in the spring and summer of 2023 while playing for Team Loaded NC.” While he is still on the thin side, Ament is a mobile and skillful striker with the ability and ball skills to play on the wing, where he possesses tremendous size. Alternatively, he may be used as a small ball four man, opening up defences and drawing opposing bigs away from the basket with his ability to shoot from distance. Ament has a lot of projectable promise due to his overall size, athleticism, and frame, which he can easily develop in the future. While he is not yet a finished product and has to add more power, he is a guy who already makes the game look easy and appears to have a promising future.”
Ament is also ranked as the fifth best power forward in the country and the top prospect in his own state by 247Sports.
