The Dolphins did not make a trade in the first round of the draft on Thursday night, but it was not due to a lack of desire in making one.
General Manager Chris Grier selected edge rusher Chop Robinson with the 21st overall pick, and he later informed reporters that he hadn’t turned off his phone at the time.
“We were sitting there, and there were a couple players at the end that we were excited for, so we were active, even trying to get back in to get another one here in the late first,” Grier said, according to a team transcript.
Grier did not reveal who those players were, and they may remain on the board until the second round begins on Friday night. That might make the Dolphins a team to keep an eye on for an early move up the draft board, though their draft assets may make that difficult.
They hold the 55th overall pick, but they don’t pick again until No. 158, which may compel them to look at their 2025 picks if they want to make a huge move.
