Taliese Fuaga, an offensive lineman for Oregon State, is a huge fan of actor Adam Sandler and his film “The Waterboy.” He stands 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 324 pounds, and he has seen the film several times.
It seemed to be fate that he ended up with the New Orleans Saints in Louisiana for his NFL career, despite the severe reasons the Saints drafted him.
The Saints selected Fuaga as the 14th overall choice in the NFL Draft on Thursday. They added him to their offensive line, which requires additional players, particularly at tackle.
Dennis Allen, Saints coach, stated, “We needed an offensive lineman, and we’re enthusiastic about Taliese. He’s big, athletic, and really physical. “We believe he is the type of guy we want on our team.
Trevor Penning, who was selected in the first round in 2022, was unable to maintain his starting place as left tackle last season. Andrus Peat, his replacement, is currently a free agent.
Ryan Ramczyk’s condition is questionable following knee surgery. James Hurst, a versatile lineman who can play guard or tackle, has opted to retire.
Until recently, Fuaga had doubts about his ability to play in the NFL. He used to regard football as simply a pastime he enjoyed playing. He also played basketball as a kid, although he frequently fouled out since “basketball was not my sport.”
During his college season, Fuaga allowed no sacks. NFL scouts were impressed by his performance against UCLA’s star defensive end, Laiatu Latu.
