BREAKING NEWS: NCAA World and SEC Chiefs Reactions to Bulldogs Shattering Two School Records In Regular Season Finale At LSU Invitation

At the LSU Invitational, pole vaulter Nikolai van Huyssteen and the women’s 4×400-meter relay team of Aaliyah Butler, Kimberly Harris, Sydney Harris, and Haley Tate broke school records in their respective events, capping a Saturday afternoon that included three event victories and six improvements to Georgia’s all-time top-10 lists. The Bulldogs also competed in the final day of the Music City Challenge, which concluded the outdoor regular season in Nashville, Tennessee.

Van Huyssteen won the pole vault at Baton Rouge by clearing 5.41 meters (17 feet, 9 inches). The junior from Paarl, South Africa, matched David Lemen’s mark from the 2001 Sea Ray Relays, Georgia’s all-time school record that had stood for 23 years. Van Huyssteen set the school record on his first attempt.

Butler, Kimberly Harris, Sydney Harris, and Tate set the 4x400m relay record in Georgia’s final race at the LSU Invitational, finishing third in 3:27.02. The Lady Bulldog quartet broke the previous school record of 3:29.90, achieved by Butler, Tate, Brandee Presley, and Dominique Mustin, by nearly three seconds.
At LSU, the Georgia throwers won two games and set one new school record. Kelsie Murrell-Ross won the shot put with a mark of 17.63m/57-10.25 on her fourth attempt, while Erin McMeniman won the javelin with a throw of 49.92m/163-9 on her third attempt for her second consecutive triumph. Alexander Kolesnikoff finished second in the men’s shot put, expanding his Georgia record to 19.41m/63-8.25.
In addition to their school record in the 4x400m, Kimberly and Sydney Harris ran the fifth and tenth fastest speeds in Georgia history in the 400-meter dash. The sisters finished sixth and thirteenth overall in the 400m, with speeds of 51.94 and 53.22, respectively.
Dominique Mustin finished second in the 400m hurdles at LSU, crossing the finish line in 56.52 seconds, improving her No. 2 best in program history.
