Bucky Irving, a former Oregon Duck running back, was picked No. 125 overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2024 NFL Draft. Fresh off consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons with the Ducks, the Bucs are getting “a real one,” according to Oregon Coach Dan Lanning, who also referred to Irving as ‘the heartbeat’ on X.

This season, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound running back impressed college football fans with his natural ability to break tackles and cause opponents to miss.

According to OverTheCap.com, Irving’s contract with the Buccaneers is expected to be four years and $4,751,552, with a $731,552 signing bonus.

Irving had only one turnover in 486 carries during his career.

COLLEGE CAREER

Irving had 1,180 yards and 11 touchdowns on 186 carries in 2023. He also has 56 receptions for 413 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

His junior career is extensive… Irving received first-team All-Pac-12 honours from the Associated Press, Coaches, Pro Football Focus, Phil Steele, and CSC.

Irving transferred to Oregon for his sophomore season after spending one season at Minnesota. In 2022, as a sophomore for the Ducks, he had 1,357 yards from scrimmage with 13 touchdowns on 187 total touches.

Irving is the seventh Duck picked in the 2024 NFL Draft, breaking the Oregon program’s record for the most players selected. The previous record of six Ducks drafted was set four times, the most recent being last year.

Irving will join Bo Nix, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Troy Franklin, Khyree Jackson, Brandon Dorlus, and Evan Williams as Ducks in the NFL.
