Days 2 and 3 of the NFL Draft proved fruitful for the Denver Broncos, who emerged with good players to cover some critical roster gaps.
After varied fan reactions on Twitter Thursday night following the Bo Nix selection, it felt like the positive sentiments just kept rising into the weekend.
After sitting out the second round with no picks, the Broncos selected Utah edge rusher Jonah Elliss early in the third round and then moved up with the Seahawks to acquire Oregon wideout Troy Franklin, Bo Nix’s favourite target last season.
With their next pick, the Broncos selected Missouri cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, followed by Notre Dame running back Audric Estimé.
The Broncos then announced a trade with the Jets, which was arguably the best deal of the weekend. The Jets traded defensive tackle John Franklin-Myers in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the next two years.
Even non-believers in Broncos Country appeared to be warming up to Bo Nix as Sean Payton provided weapons to the offence.
But if you didn’t believe on Thursday, that’s okay.
Elliss, Franklin, Abrams-Draine, Estimé, and Franklin-Myers are here to correct you.
Despite the hoopla around the draft picks, Broncos Country may have been most excited about obtaining Franklin-Myers.
