Even before Caitlin Clark’s professional debut, fans were talking about the WNBA’s charter flight problem.
WNBA players have been whining for a while now about having to travel commercial rather than private, like their male counterparts.
According to WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert, the league cannot afford to charter flights, but if they are to strike a new media rights agreement for over $100 million annually, things may be different.

“Any male sport that doesn’t have a massive media rights deal can’t possibly have charter travel,” Englelbert stated. “You’re not going to jeopardize the financial stability of this league, I’m telling you,” she says later. The players would not have jobs in three to five years if we gave in to their immediate desires, even though I would also want what they have right now.
Prior to making her WNBA preseason debut, Clark was spotted nervously being filmed by onlookers as she went through Dallas airport with security.
Supporters and journalists attacked the WNBA for their problem with charter flights.
Clark discussed the matter earlier this week as well.
“I hope it changes soon, but for now, that is the situation as it stands. It isn’t an excuse because everyone is facing the same issue.
