Alabama’s Caleb Downs is Gone This Off-Season
True freshman Caleb Downs was one of the top safeties in the nation for the Crimson Tide last season, but he departed the program to play for Ohio State after just one season in Tuscaloosa.
Since Saban is among the greatest defensive back coaches of all time, his retirement had a significant impact on Downs’ decision to transfer. It’s likely that Downs thought Alabama wouldn’t be the same without him. Nevertheless, this time around the Crimson Tide can add a safety from the Big Ten.
One Of Penn State’s Defenders May Join The Crimson Tide
According to Matt Zenitz of 247sports.com, Kig Mack, a safety transfer from Penn State, is scheduled to visit Alabama this weekend.

Mack, who spent one season in Happy Valley and finished with three tackles in 13 games, entered the gateway on Thursday.
The Crimson Tide are preparing for the upcoming SEC
This season, the SEC is expanding to include two more tough teams to play against: Texas and Oklahoma. In order to defeat these two formidable new institutions, the Crimson Tide will need to recruit as many elite players to their roster as possible. Ideally, they will be able to sign Mack, who will provide depth to the team.
