Kirby Smart of Georgia has been extended on his contract, making him the highest-paid college football coach once more.
According to numerous sources, Smart’s new contract extends until the 2033 season and increases his annual compensation to $13 million. In the college football salary arms race, he overtakes Dabo Swinney of Clemson ($11 million).
At his alma university, the 48-year-old Smart is 94-16 in eight seasons and will win national titles following the 2021 and 2022 campaigns. The Bulldogs finished 13-1 in the previous season, falling short against Alabama in the SEC title game and defeating Florida State 63-3 in the Orange Bowl.
Before assuming leadership at Georgia in 2016, Smart served as Alabama’s defensive coordinator from 2008 to 2015. He was a key player in Alabama’s four national titles under Nick Saban.
Georgia’s 2024 campaign gets underway on August 31 in Atlanta against Clemson.
