Derek Falvey provides multiple Twins injury updates, 5/3-24.
Twins President of Operations Derek Falvey spoke with reporters, including KSTP Sports, on Friday at Target Field. He offered injury updates for CF Byron Buxton (knee), RP Justin Topa (knee), and 3B Royce Lewis (quad).
Buxton was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday due to right knee pain.
Buxton departed Wednesday’s game against the Chicago White Sox in the second inning due to right knee pain sustained during a failed effort to steal second base.
Buxton, who singled to start the inning, was thrown out by catcher Kory Lee after failing to advance to second. Buxton walked slowly off the field and was replaced in the bottom half by Willi Castro, who had moved from third base.
Buxton, an All-Star in 2022, played only 85 games as a designated hitter last season due to a right knee ailment.
The Twins are hopeful that Buxton will be able to return to game action in 10-14 days.
