A highly rated quarterback recruit has turned down offers from Georgia and Michigan in favour of a pretty unusual choice.
Rivals ranks Bo Polston as a four-star recruit from the class of 2026, and he made his commitment to Toledo on Monday. He turned down a lot of Power 5 colleges in the process.
According to Kyle Rowland of the Toledo Blade, Polston visited Notre Dame last season as well. Washington, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, California, and Indiana are among the other colleges that have made offers to him.
This could simply be one of the side effects of the transfer portal’s improvements for college football. Nothing prevents Polston from beginning his career at a school like Toledo, where he is likely to see instant playing time. If he impresses, he may garner interest from Power 5 colleges and be able to transfer with no restrictions. There is still a long way to go before signing day, and this is just a verbal pledge.
In recent years, Georgia has lost a number of five-star quarterbacks to better opportunities elsewhere. Perhaps Polston didn’t want to risk falling into that category.
