Anthony Richardson’s health has been a source of concern for Colts fans for a long time. After suffering with ailments for the first six weeks of his first season, Richardson was sidelined for good after having shoulder surgery last October.
Since then, there has been a trickle flow of information about how the Colts’ franchise quarterback has progressed. He began throwing again in February, allegedly ahead of plan, and as of early May, everything appears to be going well. In fact, according to the most recent update, things are going really well.
Colts fans will really adore the latest Anthony Richardson update!
The update comes from ESPN’s NFL writer Jeremy Fowler, who claimed on SportsCenter this week that Richardson is ‘all go’ for offseason activities.
“This is going pretty well. “I’m told Richardson feels he’s all in at this point,” he remarked. “He has been throwing for a time now. He’s gradually gotten to the point where he can throw full-time with few constraints. The Colts could be purposeful. They could hold him out for OTAs, 11-man work, and minicamp, but it appears he wants to get started.”
And, while it would make sense to hold him out for at least the first portion of their offseason program, learning that Richardson will most likely be the team’s quarterback for the majority of the summer is best-case scenario material. Even limited OTA repetitions would help him build on his good start, as would his chemistry with rookie receivers Adonai Mitchell and Anthony Gould.
The Colts’ OTAs will resume soon, and fans will get to hear directly from Richardson for the first time in a while. Until then, I believe that updates such as Fowler’s will suffice.
