According to 9News’ source Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos signed three Day 3 draft picks on Wednesday, only a few days before rookie minicamp begins on May 10.
According to his report, fifth-round running back Audric Estime, seventh-round wide receiver Devaughn Vele, and seventh-round offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo have all agreed to conventional four-year rookie contracts. This assures that they will be ready to compete in the three-day event, which concludes on Sunday, May 12.
This is not surprising and is clearly usual process, and all rookies, with the exception of third-round pick Jonah Ellis, are anticipated to sign before camp begins. This is most likely due to a season-ending injury he sustained few games before his last collegiate season at Utah ended—despite the fact that the report above indicates he has been cleared for offseason exercises.
In addition to this news, I expect the Broncos to make more trades and trim down their roster to accommodate all of their rookies and guys under the 90-man roster restriction before Friday.
As always, thanks for reading. Here is today’s Horse Tracks article slate.
