Have the Denver Broncos found their quarterback of the future?
The Broncos’ quarterback situation has improved significantly over the last two weeks, following the selection of Oregon quarterback Bo Nix with the 12th overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft and the subsequent trade for New York Jets quarterback and former second overall pick Zach Wilson.
Joining a quarterback room that already included 2019 fourth-round pick and competent backup Jarrett Stidham, the Broncos concluded there was no need for a fourth veteran signal caller to add competition.
As a result, former Dallas Cowboys 7th round pick and popular social media celebrity Ben “Gucci” DiNucci was considered surplus to requirements, according to Jeremy Fowler.
The Denver Broncos cut Ben DiNucci.
While this is definitely not an ideal situation for Ben DiNucci, it is not the first setback the JMU alum has faced.
The Cowboys waived DiNucci in 2021 and 2022, the second time for good.
He subsequently joined the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL in 2023, leading them to an amazing 7-3 record and setting league highs in passing yards and completions, which led to his signing by the Denver Broncos.
It appears plausible that an NFL team will take a chance on DiNucci as a third or fourth reserve-type option on the 90-man training camp roster, especially when unlucky injuries will start to seep in beginning with OTAs at the end of May.
