Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorn coaching staff continue to expand their summer official visitor list. As June approaches, we’re seeing an increasing number of names make plans to visit Austin and have the red carpet rolled out for them, and another SEC commit put his name to the list Wednesday.
Devin Williams, a four-star cornerback from Buford, Ga., has committed to Auburn since February and is slated to visit on the weekend of June 14th. On Tuesday, Williams revealed via Twitter that he had scheduled an official visit to Texas for the following weekend, commencing on the 21st.
As of Wednesday, Williams only had two formal visits scheduled for the month of June. With the trip to Auburn coming shortly before his travel to Texas, it will be fascinating to watch whether Hugh Freeze and his team take steps to shut down his recruitment and prevent him from seeing another location.
A possible coverage standout for a Power Five contender. Believed to be undersized and under 5-foot-11, but has some of the best track timings in the 2025 cycle and has demonstrated outstanding short-area quickness as well as superb body control. As an eighth-grader, he won two gold medals at the Georgia Middle School State Championship and ran a 10.65 in the 100-meter dash. A high-IQ defender can anticipate routes and position himself to make plays. As a junior, he saw a lot of burn on offence and proved to be a solid deep target for five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, averaging 27.5 yards per reception at times. His ball skills are remarkable for his age, and his highlight film is jam-packed with clips of him putting his body on the line to move the chains. Hasn’t been required to press many wide receivers, but has the skill set to thrive in a slot corner role if he can improve his core strength and technique. Should be seen as a secondary impact player capable of slowing down pass-happy offences.
The Longhorns have already had some turnover at the position this offseason, and more departures are expected after 2024, so they are staying busy to restock the talent pool at corner.
According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Williams is the 22nd-ranked cornerback prospect in the country for the 2025 cycle, as well as the 186th-ranked player overall.
