JUST IN: Saint Front Office Has Named Quarterback Derek Carr to a List That Players Hope to Avoid

Derek Carr is preparing for his second season with the New Orleans Saints, and while he will have to learn a new scheme now that Klint Kubiak is the offensive coordinator, the stakes are bigger than ever for Carr. Following an unsatisfactory first season with the Saints, Carr understands that his performance this season will have a significant impact on the rest of his career.

Everyone understands this. That’s why, in a recent Bleacher Report article on quarterbacks who would face the most pressure in 2024, Maurice Moton listed Derek Carr top.

Saints QB Derek Carr responds to Michael Thomas' heated Twitter tirade

Derek Carr has been recognized as the quarterback under the most pressure in 2024.
Moton went over all of the current circumstances in New Orleans, including how the team has drafted quarterbacks in the middle rounds of the last two drafts, how the Saints haven’t made the playoffs in three years, and how Dennis Allen’s job security is dependent on how the team finishes the 2024 season. Moton noted that all of these factors are related to Carr’s performance this season.

If Derek Carr has a successful season, the Saints will most likely return to the playoffs, Allen will remain head coach, and Carr will continue to be the quarterback in New Orleans. However, if Carr has a disappointing season, expect significant changes to the Saints, beginning with the franchise moving on from Allen and Carr.

Carr started all 17 games in 2023, his first year with New Orleans, completing 68.4% of his throws for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. While that isn’t a bad stat line, it wasn’t enough, as the Saints finished 9-8, one win shy of winning the division and qualifying for the playoffs.

New Orleans understands that it needs to achieve greater success. If the Saints are unable to achieve that level of success with their present roster this season, they will have to start over. That entails moving on from highly compensated veterans like Carr. However, all of this may be avoided if Carr and the Saints produce in 2024.
