DEAL SEALED: Florida Football Lands Former Colorado Sensational 5-star After Disappointing Season

The Florida football team did not have a good year last season, failing to make a bowl game, and things will not be any better in the new-look SEC this season. The Gators’ on-field performance has to improve, but one area where they’ve done well is recruiting. Florida has done well in both high school and transfer portal recruitment, and they received a significant commitment from Colorado football transfer and former five-star Cormani McClain on Wednesday.

Florida football understands that what happened on the field last season is unacceptable, so this offseason is critical as they seek to make the necessary improvements to their team. The transfer portal has become an important component of the game, and it can be useful for teams looking to update their lineup. Cormani McClain’s commitment is a significant win for the Gators.

“BREAKING: Former Colorado CB Cormani McClain has committed to Florida, he tells @On3sports,” Hayes Fawcett wrote on Twitter. “The 6’3 173 CB from Lakeland, Florida will have three years of eligibility remaining. Was named the top CB in the ’23 Class by On3 Industry.”

According to 247 Sports, McClain was a five-star recruit out of high school, ranking 13th overall in the 2023 class. He was Florida’s number one cornerback and number three player. McClain attended Lakeland High School in Lakeland, Florida, and committed to play football at Colorado in college.

McClain made 13 total tackles for the Buffaloes last season and defended two passes as a true freshman. He was anticipated to be a standout at Colorado, but he decided to transfer this spring and has since found a new home in Florida. McClain’s return to Florida is unsurprising after playing high school football there.
Does Florida football have the most difficult schedule in CFB?
Getting Cormani McClain through the transfer portal is significant, as is recruiting in general for Florida right now, but it does not change the fact that they will face one of the most difficult schedules in college football next season. The Gators have an incredible challenge next season, and no matter how talented they are, winning six games will be extremely difficult.Colorado Buffaloes athlete Travis Hunter (12) and cornerback Cormani McClain (1) react after a call against the Utah Utes at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Oklahoma and Texas will join the SEC as new clubs next season. The Sooners are predicted to be solid, while the Longhorns are expected to be one of college football’s greatest teams. They made it to the College Football Playoff last season and are likely to return this year. The Gators do not play Oklahoma, but they do face Texas on the road.

Florida football might face nine rated opponents next year. The schedule includes Miami, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, and Florida State. A squad with that schedule might legitimately have the skill of a top-25 college football team while yet finishing 3-9. Florida’s schedule is intimidating, and winning six games will be a challenging assignment.
