GREAT LOST: Saints lose Another Top Experienced Star, With a Huge Reactions From Fans

Another wide receiver relocation became official for the NFL on Tuesday morning. This time, the Buffalo Bills signed veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdez-Scantling. The New Orleans Saints expressed interest in MVS throughout the offseason.

Did the Saints lose out on the receiver?
MVS decided to join Josh Allen and the Bills offence. You can’t blame him for that.

Furthermore, one has to wonder how vigorous the pursuit of MVS was from New Orleans.
They enjoyed what they saw from A.T. Perry last year. Not to mention Bub Means, who they had their eye on from the start of the selection process. The Saints selected him on Day 3 and expect him to be another big-bodied option for the team’s passing offence. He also pleased them during last weekend’s rookie minicamp.

Nobody will ever know how great a risk they took in signing him, but the money could be better spent elsewhere for New Orleans. The team still has to address safety depth and perhaps interior defensive line depth. Both defensive positions might benefit from the presence of a veteran player.

Regardless, MVS travels to the AFC. Prior to the draft, the Saints added many seasoned wide receivers via free agency.

All of them will compete for roster berths. If I had to guess it today, Cedrick Wilson Jr. is the most likely to make the team to begin the season among those men. Stanley Morgan Jr. and Equanimeous St. Brown will also have to compete hard during camp to win their spots.

The Saints will most likely expect more from Perry and Means this season than some fans will. Let’s see if the young men can make them look smarter.
