According to On3 Sports, Ja’Varrius Johnson will join former head coach Gus Malzahn’s team at UCF.

Johnson played for Malzahn from 2019 to 2020. He was with the program for five seasons, racking up 1,114 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Johnson will have one year of eligibility remaining.

The former Auburn receiver was a member of the 2019 class from Trussville, Alabama. He was interested in UAB, Western Carolina, and Tulane. Johnson also had Power 4 offers from Mississippi State and Kentucky.
He began his college career in 2019. He did not see the field after suffering injuries as a true freshman. He first appeared on the field in 2020, against Georgia. In 2021, he established himself on special teams, returning punts. The 2022 season was his greatest in terms of receiving yards, with 493 total.
In his final season with the Tigers in 2023, he appeared in 10 games and gained 347 receiving yards.

According to the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings, he is a three-star wide receiver. Before committing to the Knights, Johnson was ranked as the portal’s No. 36 wide receiver.

The Tigers have suffered some hits in the receiver room. Jay Fair and Koy Moore have opted for the transfer portal. The program did, however, sign former Penn State wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith.
