MINNESOTA TWIN DAILY NEWS: Twins Manager Rocco Baldelli Issues a Shocking Injury Update on Key Star Byron Buxton, Royce Lewis Amidst Doctor’s Confirmation

The Minnesota Twins are currently third in the American League Central with a 24-17 record. They are currently two games behind the first-place Cleveland Guardians. Despite the fact that Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis have been out with injury, Minnesota has fared very well.
Lewis and Buxton have All-Star potential when healthy. The problem is that both athletes have faced with numerous injuries throughout their careers.

Lewis was placed on the injured list early this season due to a serious right quad strain. Buxton, meanwhile, is struggling with irritation in his right knee.

MLB.com reports that Lewis is scheduled to return “no sooner than June.” Lewis has begun hitting in the field. The next phase will be to run the bases.

Buxton is anticipated to return soon. He starts his rehab assignment on Wednesday.

“Pretty much [the last step is] just work out with the team,” Buxton told MLB.com. “[The crew] had been on the road for a few days before taking the day off yesterday. Simply not being able to get out there with them and do everything, so getting out there and doing everything is probably the final step.”

Barring any setbacks, Buxton could be back on the field with the Twins within the next week.

Buxton is close to returning. Meanwhile, Lewis is still a few of weeks away. However, both injury updates are positive. The Twins hope to be totally well as soon as possible.

Twins battling despite injury problems
The American League Central was one of the weakest divisions in Major League Baseball during the 2023 season. In 2024, however, the division has become fairly competitive.

Minnesota Twins designated hitter Byron Buxton (25) and third baseman Royce Lewis (23) react after Buxton hit his second home run of the day during the third inning at Target Field.
The Cleveland Guardians are presently leading the division with a 27-16 record. Following a string of lacklustre seasons, the Kansas City Royals find themselves in second place. Minnesota is third, as previously stated, while the Detroit Tigers are fourth with a 21-21 record. Currently, the Chicago White Sox are the only team in the division with a record below.500.

The standings are very different from 2023. Last season, only the Twins had a record above.500. It goes without saying that the division has a number of youthful and interesting players. These players are starting to take leaps ahead, resulting in a much better type of baseball in the division.

The Twins are presumably satisfied with their current standings. Two of their greatest offensive players are injured, and the squad is only two games back of first place. Minnesota should have a chance to win the division in 2024.

However, Cleveland and Kansas City are both playing confidently. This division will be exciting to watch as the ’24 season progresses.

We will continue to monitor and share updates on Byron Buxton’s and Royce Lewis’ injury status as they become available.
