Duncan U. Fletcher’s interior offensive lineman, Takaylen “TK” Muex, endured a hectic nine days.
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound offensive guard received an offer from Miami. May 7: arranged a formal visit 13 hours later and announced his commitment to the Hurricanes. He informed CaneSport on Thursday evening that he had been considering his decision for a week. When Miami offensive line coach Alex Mirabal presented the offer last week, he told Muex that he could commit at any time, even on the same day. Fletcher opted to accept earlier this week.
After three-star offensive tackle Lamar Williams decommitted last week, Fletcher is Miami’s only offensive line recruit for the 2025 class. He is Miami’s seventh pledge this cycle.
“To be honest, I feel like the school just needs me,” Muex stated. “They make me feel needed rather than wanted. I feel as if I am required. I want to go somewhere where I feel wanted, not merely employed for corporate purposes.”
Muex believes he matches Miami’s culture, philosophy, and offensive plan and has the skills to be a valuable contributor in the coming years. Mirabal likened Muex to starting offensive guard Anaz Cooper when extending the offer last week, citing the staff’s track record of offensive line development. However, Miami’s strategy for Muex made the Hurricanes substantially more appealing, he added.
“Their plan for me and their plan as a school, it fits me,” Muex stated. “I’m hoping to find a place that is a good fit. I’m very excited. And what’s even better is that they want my family to commit, so I appreciate that they want to bring my family in and get everyone interested.”
Muex said he chose to pledge on Thursday because he wanted to secure his spot with the Hurricanes and didn’t want a transfer player to grab a scholarship spot that could have been his. He also recognizes how unique it is to be a school’s lone committed offensive lineman until further pledges are disclosed in the coming months.
But he would have been just as delighted regardless of when he made his decision.
“Man, it feels good,” Muex added. “Very good. I haven’t experienced a better feeling yet.”
CaneSport’s Take
Muex still intends to make formal visits to UCF, FAU, and one more institution this summer, but he says he will commit to Miami unless something catastrophic happens. He stated that he does not want to waste anyone’s time and wishes to commit to the coaching staff that he believes wants him, so the Hurricanes should have little to worry about, barring the unexpected.

On April 15, fast-rising Leesburg (Fla.) Tavares On300 Class of 2026 safety Izayia Williams declared his commitment to the Syracuse Orange. However, the Miami Hurricanes have extended an offer to the Sunshine State blue-chipper.
Miami linebackers coach Derek Nicholson offered the excellent defensive back, recognizing his versatility and potential for various roles at the next level.
Williams expressed happiness upon receiving the offer from Miami, which was made on April 25.”They like how I am very versatile, and they really like my film.”
Williams, who grew up in Florida, never expected to receive an offer from the Hurricanes during his sophomore year. However, he is grateful for the opportunity.
“Miami was always a school I wanted to attend,” Williams explained. “I expected the offer to arrive later, perhaps during my junior or senior year. I adore Miami and would like to be a part of that program.Ray Lewis and other notable athletes have attended the school.
Williams, the No. 49 talent in the 2026 class according to the On300, is excited to visit Coral Gables and explore the program’s offerings.
“I haven’t been down there yet, but I will be there soon,” Williams stated. “I definitely want to speak with the coaches and see how they are. Also, check out the available amenities for me.”
Despite his pledge to Syracuse, the 6-foot-1/2, 200-pound safety is not ruling out Miami or any other teams that may make an offer, as his recruitment is still in its early stages.
As a sophomore, Williams made 40 tackles, including six for loss, two sacks, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
“I haven’t been to a lot of schools yet, and my recruitment has really just started blowing up,” Williams said. “I’m not going to just stop recruiting and ignore other schools. As soon as I receive the new offer, I plan to speak with the coaches to see how things are going.”
During the recruiting process, Williams will prioritize choosing a program that feels like home for him and his family, among other factors.
“I want to go somewhere I can play and to a place I really want to be at,” Williams stated. “I’ll also check with my parents to see whether they’re okay with my playing there.
Miami saw the rising sophomore as one among the top prospects in the 2026 class early on. Williams joins Palm Bay (Fla.) Heritage four-star athlete Demetres Samuel as the second Syracuse commit from the 2026 class offered in the last two weeks. The Hurricanes are also interested in retaining an in-state talent.
