Duncanville wide receiver Dakorien Moore decommitted from the LSU Tigers late Thursday on social media, despite the potential to play with the consensus No. 1 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, quarterback Bryce Underwood.
The 5’11, 175-pounder, a major target of the Texas Longhorns, hasn’t given up on his recruitment since pledging to LSU last August, with a visit to the Forty Acres in early April and a trip to Ohio State. Moore also indicated publicly this spring that he is still contemplating Oregon.
However, the Longhorns are trending for the consensus five-star talent, with three 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions coming in for Texas shortly after Moore revealed his decision.
One factor, aside from head coach Steve Sarkisian’s propensity to highlight wide receivers in his offensive scheme?
Bringing back newly appointed special assistant to the head coach Chris Gilbert, a former Texas Director of High School Relations with strong ties to the Metroplex following a successful head coaching stint at Lancaster. Gilbert returned to Austin in February after spending a season as North Texas’ associate head coach and tight ends coach.
Moore is a super blue-chip prospect with 10.4 100-meter speed and proven production at the highest level of Texas high school football, having recorded 71 catches for 1,523 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior at Duncanville to win back-to-back 6A-DI state titles. He is ranked as the No. 3 player nationally and the No. 1 wide receiver by the 247Sports Composite.
Texas has yet to acquire commitments from 2025 wide receivers, but it remains in contention for other consensus five-star talents such as in-state product Kaliq Lockett and Florida’s Jaime Ffrench, as well as Moore’s recruiting.
