As the Cleveland Browns prepare for the 2024 NFL season, they are generating some interest on the hypothetical trade market.
The turmoil surrounding Justin Jefferson’s predicament with the Minnesota Vikings is becoming into a major storyline. With the troubles the two are having with a new contract, might a potential trade occur? If that were an option, a team like the Browns would jump at the chance to acquire the great wide receiver.
Jefferson is perhaps the NFL’s best wide receiver. However, he wants a large contract that would pay him like a quarterback. That much money is unheard of for a wide receiver.
That being said, the Vikings will need to make a decision quickly. Do they pay up to keep their star wideout or trade him for the best offer they can get?
If they decide to sell him, the Cleveland Browns could make an offer that would be difficult for the Vikings to refuse.
Cleveland Browns Trade for Vikings WR Justin Jefferson In Huge Blockbuster Proposal
Michael Lucas, writing for Bleacher Report, proposed a blockbuster trade that would send Jefferson to the Cleveland Browns. If Jefferson is unwilling to stay in Minnesota, the trade might benefit both teams.
Cleveland Browns receive Justin Jefferson, a sixth-round pick.
Minnesota Vikings receive Dawand Jones, Martin Emerson, Elijah Moore, a first-round pick, and a third-round pick.
Lucas could be onto something here, and more picks may need to be included in the deal. But this is an offer worth considering.
For the Cleveland Browns, acquiring Jefferson at this price would be a no-brainer. His value alone would propel the team into Super Bowl contention. Giving up three excellent players and a couple picks would be little in exchange for a talent like Jefferson.
On the opposite side of the exchange, the Vikings would benefit from a terrible situation. Jones, Emerson, and Moore would all be able to get starting employment. Add in a couple more picks or more, and the package becomes really appealing, especially in exchange for a player that Minnesota will be unable to keep at their current price.
If this trade occurs, the Cleveland Browns will suddenly have one of the most dynamic offences in the NFL. Deshaun Watson would have both Jefferson and Amari Cooper to collaborate with. That would be great to watch.
All that being said, it will be interesting to see what happens in the Justin Jefferson case. Will he be able to work out a new agreement with the Vikings, or will he seek a trade?
Expect more rumours and reporting from Minnesota in the near future. Until we hear more, the Cleveland Browns are just an interesting possible trade partner.
