Pat Kelsey, the coach of the University of Louisville basketball team, has acquired another post player to his squad.
Georgia Transfer Frank Anselem-Ibe began his career at Syracuse and spent two seasons at Georgia before transferring. He has committed to Louisville and will be the 13th member of the Cardinals’ roster.
Anselem-Ibe was once again a reserve in 2023-24, but he still contributed vital minutes to the Bulldogs. He appeared in 29 games, making three starts, and finished the season averaging 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.1 minutes per game. He fired 62.8% from the field.
Anselem-Ibe started the final three games of the season due to injury, averaging six points and seven rebounds.
Anselem-Ibe appeared in 31 games and started six during his first season with the Bulldogs in 2022-23. With 14.6 minutes per game, he averaged 2.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks, which led the squad. Anselem appeared in 32 games for Syracuse in 2021-22, making six starts. He averaged 2.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per game, shooting 62.5% from the field. Anselem also grabbed 123 rebounds last season, the fourth highest on the squad, and had double-digit rebounds in three games.
Anselem had a limited role as a freshman at Syracuse in 2020-21. He appeared in four games, totaling 26 minutes.
Anselem, a native of Lagos, Nigeria, began his prep career at Westlake High School in Atlanta before transferring to Lincoln Academy.
Anselem completed his high school career at Prolific Prep in Napa, California. Prolific Prep advanced to the 2020 Grind Session World Championship after defeating Our Saviour Lutheran, with Anselem contributing 14 points and seven rebounds.
Prior to reclassifying to the 2020 class, Anselem was ranked among the top 100 prospects in the class of 2021.
