The New Orleans Saints began OTAs for the upcoming season this week. They are preparing and making initial adjustments. The offence includes several new faces on staff, notably offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.
The Saints offence must improve and be more consistent than it was in 2023. They were a middling team, and they have too much established skill for it to happen again in 2024.
Carr is enthused about the Saints’ new offence.
“This one with Klint and Janocko felt good and right. And for me, it’s something I’ve seen from a distance, and you’re thinking, “Man, that’d be so much fun to be a part of…” “I’m just excited.”
“I’m sitting there watching the film, excited, because, as I previously stated, it will seem different to our fans who have seen it in a specific manner for a long time. But I believe it’s good. Everything appears the same to the defence. Coaches do an excellent job of ensuring that everything looks consistent, despite the fact that there are numerous moving pieces. Whoever began it and who has been coaching it deserves kudos since they do an excellent job of making things appear alike. They could offer you a playbook, but you’re not sure which one they’re calling… And I believe this makes things difficult for the defence and (defensive) coordinators.”
— Keep the new offence going.
Carr appears to have been revitalized by the presence of more modern offensive wits in the room. The big play action offence that many expect from Kubiak plays to the veteran quarterback’s abilities.
The quarterback will be on his third offence in three years, having joined the Saints last season. There will be hurdles, but the folks in command are confident.
Kubiak expressed trust in Carr earlier this offseason.
“Derek has had a very good offseason so far. He’s putting in the effort; he’s here after hours, just studying his tail off, and his teammates see how hard he works and raises our level of play.” — Kubiak
We’ll see how Carr and Kubiak work together as the two major cogs in making the Saints offence “go” in 2024. New Orleans is expecting a bounce-back season to return to the playoffs.
The new duo must deliver.
