JUST IN: Sean Payton Broke Down in Tears as He Offer Latest Update On Bo Nix Following OTAs Section

On Thursday, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton expressed his satisfaction with his rookie quarterback Bo Nix’s performance thus far.

This week, Nix participated in Broncos OTAs alongside Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham, two other quarterbacks. While Payton has yet to pick a Week 1 starter, the Broncos coach’s positive remarks about Nix bode well for the rookie quarterback’s chances.

“He’s farther along than most would be,” Payton said when asked about Nix. “We are talking about a player who has played 61 games. He’s incredibly brilliant. “He picked it up very quickly.”
Before the 2024 NFL Draft, Payton reportedly felt the same way about Nix as he did in 2017 about a specific Kansas City Chiefs quarterback.

One of Nix’s strengths as a rookie is his college experience. Nix was Auburn’s starting quarterback from 2019 to 2021 before going to Oregon to fill the same role for the final two seasons.

In his final year at Oregon, Nix led the NCAA in completions (364) and passing touchdowns (45). His 4,508 passing yards ranked second behind Washington’s Michael Penix Jr.

Despite a successful senior year, Nix was chastised for one narrative in particular, which may have pushed him behind several quarterbacks in his draft class.
