NASCAR LATEST UPDATE: Joey Logano Reveals What Exactly He Will Be Doing During His Retirement

At age 34, Joey Logano has won two NASCAR Cup Series championships. Based on history, the Team Penske driver has at least a decade to win more races and titles. When the driver eventually decides to hang up his helmet for the last time, he does not have a clear plan of action, but he does know what he wants to accomplish.

“I still got some years left,” Logano remarked before the All-Star Race in North Wilkesboro. “You know, the landscape of the sport is changing so much from a TV partner standpoint, how many races each organization is doing, and where you fit in. “I won’t just sit on the couch, I promise.”I’m enjoying doing TV right now, and Saturdays are usually a little more casual than they used to be due to the restricted time on the track. So I enjoy doing it, but I can see myself wanting to serve in other ways. You’re familiar with our sport in general, right? Perhaps that is for NASCAR.

If I can't win, I don't want to do it": Joey Logano reveals what
“I do not know. I believe it is necessary to give back to the sport that has given you so much and improve it for the next generation. And if I can help in some way, that’s what I’d like to do.”

Joey Logano leads Fox Booth in Drivers Only Xfinity Broadcast.
Logano noted that he presently enjoys working on some of Fox’s Xfinity Series programs. He has been a fixture in the booth for several races each year, and this year he took over as main commentator for the May 25 Drivers Only broadcast at Charlotte, replacing the retired Kevin Harvick, who now co-hosts the Sunday Cup broadcasts with Clint Bowyer and Mike Joy.
At the end of the show, the Ford driver discussed his experience.

“This has really been a special thing, for sure, all the way through” he said. “I’ve liked working with Fox for several years. As I have stated, I outlasted Kevin Harvick to obtain this role. I had fun with it. It’s hard. It was much difficult than I expected, but I had a good time.”

Joey Logano has struggled in 2024.

Joey Logano finds the Netflix cameras 'annoying' during NASCAR Playoffs
Logano had fun in the booth in 2024, but the same cannot be said for his on-track performance. Aside from his victory in the non-points-paying All-Star Race, the No. 22 team has struggled this season.

Logano had only three top-10 finishes over the first 13 races, roughly half of the regular season, including a single top-5 at Richmond. His average finishing position is 18.8, which is lower than any other active prior winner. And he hasn’t gone this long without a victory since 2016, when he won at Michigan in the season’s 15th race.

In the same amount of races in 2023, the Penske driver had six top ten results, including a win at Atlanta and two runner-up finishes at the Daytona 500 and Martinsville.

Logano and Team Penske obviously did not want or expect this kind of start to the season. But, as they’ve demonstrated over the last two years, it’s not how you start, but how you finish. Both years, the group successfully hoisted the Bill France Cup in Phoenix.
