The New Orleans Saints have finished their first set of OTA workouts, which lasted three days from May 21 to 23. However, they did it with a number of players missing, including several well-known names. The players who did not attend included running back Alvin Kamara and cornerback Marshon Lattimore. Head coach Dennis Allen spoke with the media about both players’ absences, saying that he wishes everyone was present, but he trusts that the players are doing what they need to do to prepare.
Finally, attendance is voluntary, so all the team can do is hope that the players show up. Here’s a look at every player who was absent at the start of OTAs.
• Alvin Kamara (RB)
• Marshon Lattimore (CB)
• RT Ryan Ramczyk (Knee)
– DE Chase Young (Neck)
• Running back Jamaal Williams, DT Nathan Shepherd
• WR Stanley Morgan
• LB Nephi Sewell
• LB Jaylan Ford
Some of these players, including Chase Young and Ryan Ramczyk, were unavailable due to injury. However, Dennis Allen stated that he was aware of why everyone was not present. So it appears that the Saints have no problematic absences.
The team will resume operations on Tuesday, May 28. OTAs will take place in New Orleans from May 28 to 30, followed by another from June 3-6. It will be fascinating to observe if the attendance list changes during the next seven workouts. The proceedings will, of course, end with an obligatory minicamp from June 11 to 13. Everyone must be present for that.
