Each team will start the 2024 season with a 0-0 record. What occurred last season is irrelevant; everyone will start over and have the same potential to be a Super Bowl champion. Of course, this will only happen to one team. Other teams will have spectacularly great seasons yet fall short, while some will have dismal seasons. We’ll find out which clubs fall into each category as the season progresses.
While each team receives a clean slate, not everyone gets to click the reset button. For some, the odour of disappointment from the past will linger, and victory will be the only way to remove it. Dennis Allen, the New Orleans Saints’ head coach, fits into this group.
Since taking over as head coach following the 2021 season, Allen has led New Orleans to a 16-18 record, missing the playoffs in both of his seasons. That won’t cut it in New Orleans. That’s why, in a recent Bleacher Report article, Alex Kay labelled Allen as one of the five coaches on the hot seat for the 2024 season.
2024 is a make-or-break season for Dennis Allen.
Kay explained that while Allen’s 16-18 record isn’t bad, it’s unfortunate that he hasn’t won the NFC South division. If this trend continues next season, the Saints may struggle to keep Allen. Kay also suggested that because Allen does not appear to have the locker room’s support, it will be easier to let him go.
It’s difficult to argue with any of them. Anyone paying attention to New Orleans understands that this is a make-or-break year for not only Allen, but the entire organization. If the Saints suffer another disappointing season, they will most likely be looking for a new coach and quarterback, as well as saying goodbye to several experienced players.
