Longhorns Daily News: Bulldogs and SEC HC Coaches Brutal Reactions To Texas Joining SEC

Kirby Smart, Georgia’s head coach, has a knack of living up to his last name.

Despite winning two of the previous three College Football Playoffs, Smart recently stated that the Texas Longhorns pose a threat as the club prepares to join the Southeastern Conference, along with regional rival Oklahoma, later this summer.

“It’s extremely tough, the fact that they’re in our conference,” Smart told On3. “They are further away. They’re a formidable football team. “They have a great state to recruit in.”

Smart went on to say that this is also true in Oklahoma.

“Both of their coaching staffs are really good,” Smart added. “Sark and Brent [Venables] both have SEC experience; Brent was in the ACC and played at Clemson, so he’s always played against SEC teams. They are both aware of the environment into which they are venturing, and we believe this enhances the conference. “The brand extends further west.”
