Phillies manager Rob Thomson says Rhys Hoskins must clear hurdle of baserunning to return for the World Series
Phillies manager Rob Thomson discussed Hoskins’ return:
Thomson told John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia, “I think he’s going to get a great reception.” Even if he said he was going to be booed. He is a member of this community. Everyone understands how vital he is. When I arrived here in 2018, he was the first player I encountered. He’s simply a fantastic teammate. A fantastic person. He is a competitor. I can’t say enough positive things about him.

According to Clark, Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola misses Hoskins and is excited to see him again.

Rhys Hoskins returns to the Milwaukee Brewers after departing the Phillies.
During his first spring training with the Brewers earlier this year, Hoskins discussed leaving the Phillies.

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins (12) is dunked after hitting the game-winning home run to help beat the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field.
“It’s a special place,” Rhys Hoskins remarked about the Phillies organization. “There were a lot of frustrating years in there, and now you’re seeing a lot of pent-up emotion from those people rooting for their club. With the guys they have on their team, it’s easy to root for them. This explains why the city has supported them so strongly. I completed a lot of my goals there, so returning back will be different, but it will also be amazing.”

Hoskins had been out since hurting his hamstring on May 13, but returned to the Brewers lineup over the weekend.

Prior to his injury, Hoskins was hitting.233/.340/.474, with nine home runs and 27 RBI in 156 plate appearances. Despite missing two and a half weeks, he is the Brewers’ leading home run hitter.

Despite Hoskins’ absence, Milwaukee has remained unfazed. The Milwaukee Brewers are 36-23 and lead the National League Central by seven games over the St. Louis Cardinals.
