Losing in the Cup Series may be devastating at times. One such scenario occurred on Sunday, when reigning champion Ryan Blaney suffered a crushing loss. While it appeared that the Team Penske driver would win his first race of the 2024 season, he ran out of fuel in the final laps. Despite the painful loss, Blaney would have found solace in way Brad Keselowski handled it.
It is no secret that the #12 driver has ached for a win in the current season. Blaney has yet to win in 15 races in the 2024 season, but that could have changed if he hadn’t ran out of fuel on Sunday. While sad, Keselowski’s gesture demonstrated that sportsmanship is still very much alive in NASCAR.
Brad Keselowski sets the appropriate example with his sympathetic gesture towards Ryan Blaney.
Sunday was bittersweet for Austin Cindric. While he won at World Wide Technology Raceway, it was at the expense of his Team Penske colleague Ryan Blaney. Blaney, who had gone winless in 2024, appeared to be on track to snap his drought at Gateway in Madison, Illinois.
The #12 driver maintained a comfortable lead over Austin Cindric as the race neared its conclusion. Unfortunately, he ran out of gas in the last moments, as the #2 driver sped past the Cup Series defending champion to win. Cindric’s 85-race winless drought came to an end.
