The Indiana Fever had a day off on Monday, and it looks that a major chunk of the team took advantage by spending the day relaxing on the lake. Players were observed on the yacht celebrating Grace Berger’s birthday, taking a break after playing three games in the previous four nights.
Rookie Caitlin Clark, who had just had her worst professional performance, was noticeably absent from that day trip.
In that most recent game, the No. 1 overall choice was restricted to a season-low point total, making only one of her ten shots. She missed six of her seven three-point attempts and had as many turnovers (3) as points.
The squad felt her troubles in a 104-68 rout.
Most of the gang appears to have swiftly forgotten about their humbling loss in order to regroup before their meeting with the Mystics on Friday.
Aliyah Boston shared a photo from the festivities on her Instagram account.
Not a horrible way to start the four-day break.
Caitlin Clark was not in attendance.
The cause for this is unknown, but it wasn’t overlooked!
Getting some additional shots after a bad performance? Taking a break for some much-needed R&R?
What? No invitation? That appears unlikely.
Here’s what social media said.
“CC probably sitting in a massage chair watching film.”
“I don’t see Clark bonding with them though!! However, she is most likely asleep!!”
“Physicality of the WNBA taking its toll.”
It’s worth mentioning that other players on the roster are also missing. It’s also conceivable Clark met up with her teammates later that day.
But, given her status and popularity within the sport, her absence was destined to be a talking point!
