This summer, Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain has been involved in contract negotiations with the organization.
Given that the two sides have unable to reach an agreement on a new contract, Surtain has been the subject of ongoing trade speculation throughout the offseason.
Where do things stand between the Denver Broncos and Patrick Surtain?
However, as the Broncos’ voluntary offseason program comes to an end, Surtain broke his quiet on the status of his contract negotiations with the organization.
“That time will come,” Surtain told Ryan McFadden of the Denver Post. “I’m focused on being the best player I can be.”
Surtain is one of the sport’s best cornerbacks, and he is only entering his peak after recording a career-high 69 total tackles and one interception last season.
During a successful 2023 campaign, Pro Football Focus tells out that Surtain held opposition quarterbacks to a passing rating of just 93.9 when targeting him, while receivers averaged fewer than 13 yards per reception.
Given that cornerback is still a high-demand position and Surtain is one of the best players in the league, the Broncos may want to find a way to close the deal sooner rather than later.
