Carl Granderson’s ascension has been one of the New Orleans Saints’ most positive developments in recent years. Granderson went from being undrafted in 2019 to leading the Saints in sacks in 2023. He’s gotten better every season, and there’s no reason to believe that trend will stop in 2024. In fact, Granderson has a plan to ensure that it continues.
While many people were impressed by his development last season, Granderson believes he could have been far more productive. He said in a recent interview with the media that he thought he had struck a wall in the middle of the season. To fight this, Granderson dismantled his entire regimen and retooled it so that he could dominate from the start to the finish of the season.

The statistics back up Granderson’s feelings. He started all 17 games for the Saints last season, totaling 8.5 sacks, 78 tackles, 14 for loss, and 20 quarterback hits. However, in the first eight games of the season, Granderson recorded 5.5 sacks, 34 tackles, 9 for a loss, and 12 quarterback hits. In the last nine games, he has three sacks, 44 tackles, five for a loss, and eight quarterback hits. He was noticeably more productive in the first half of the season.
Hopefully, the deep dive into his program will allow him to make the necessary modifications to be productive throughout the season, as the Saints will require him to. With Chase Young joining Granderson and Cam Jordan on the defensive end, the New Orleans Saints are optimistic that rushing the passer will not be an issue in 2024. If Carl Granderson, who has progressed dramatically each season, can reach another level, getting after quarterbacks should be a breeze.
