New Orleans Saints supporters are thrilled with the prospect of adding pass rusher Chase Young to their defensive line. On paper, it was a wise decision at a reasonable cost for just one season. He’s on an incentive-laiden agreement, so it’s not surprising that the move may not pay off.
Only time will tell what happens with Young and the Saints. As of now, there is plenty of hope that he, along with some other great talent, will put pressure on the Saints’ defensive line.
Chase Young might “make or break” the Saints’ defence in 2024.
According to Nick Shook of NFL.com, Young has the potential to be a game changer for the Saints in some capacity.
If Young wants motivation to produce in 2024, he simply has to go back a few months to his free agency, which didn’t garner much interest and resulted in a one-year, $13 million trial with the Saints. That’s far from what most expected the former No. 2 overall choice to fetch even a year ago, but after his transfer west to San Francisco failed to yield the results most expected, especially given he was paired with Nick Bosa, Young was forced to accept a reasonable prove-it opportunity. If Young wants to make a lot of money, he needs to act quickly. At 25 years old, he has the potential to re-establish himself as a coveted edge rusher by registering double-digit sacks (and having a largely healthy season while he recovers from offseason neck surgery), which appears unlikely at this time. Perhaps sharing the field with Cameron Jordan will be helpful.

His reasoning makes a lot of sense. In 2023, the Saints did not perform well when rushing the passer. If this happens again in 2024, serious decisions will have to be taken by both players and staff.
Young will most likely play alongside Cameron Jordan, opposing Carl Granderson. Granderson has the best EDGE among the three at this point in their careers.
That being said, Young has a lot of potential that may still go untapped. He was a former top-five overall choice.
He absolutely must be well. He is currently recovering from neck surgery but is anticipated to be fit for the preseason. Young has been dedicated to his recuperation and has been in the building every day working hard.
