The Tennessee Volunteers are returning to Omaha for the third time in four seasons. The No. 1 squad in the countryโand the No. 1 overall national seedโdefeated Evansville on Sunday night after losing game two on Saturday.
The Evansville hitters couldn’t keep up on Sunday, as Tennessee hammered homerun after homerun en route to a 12-1 win. Zander Sechrist was strong on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings and allowing only one earned run.

Tennessee will now compete in the College World Series, starting on Friday night against Florida State. The Seminoles are the No. 8 national seed, with a 47-15 record this season. Florida State defeated UConn in the Super Regionals to progress.

Tennessee’s draw at the College World Series

The Vols are in bracket one, which includes North Carolina and Virginia. Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina State, and Texas A&M compete in Bracket 2. With a double-elimination format, the two bracket winners will compete for the National Championship in a three-game series (June 22-24).
