HUGE REACTION: Caitlin Clark’s Olympics Snub Just Took A Major Turn as Things Continue to Get Ugly For Both Player and Head Coach

Caitlin Clark’s pro basketball career is on the rise after being picked by the WNBA as the first pick for the Indiana Fever, thus it came as a surprise when she was apparently passed over by the Olympics team. According to The Athletic, the 2024 Summer Olympics women’s basketball team contains well-known players including Brittney Griner, Breanna Stewart, and Sabrina Ionescu. Clark’s name did not appear on the 12-player roster, but the former Iowa Hawkeyes player had no hard feelings. “There’s no disappointment. It just gives me something to work towards; it’s a dream. Hopefully, one day I’ll be there. I believe it is just a bit extra motivation. You remember that. “Hopefully, when four years come around, I’ll be there,” she said, according ESPN.

Clark may not need to wait four years after all. According to Shams Charania of Run It Back, the guard has been added to the alternatives list as a favourite, alongside Brionna Jones of the Connecticut Sun. An X user, formerly on Twitter, wrote, “I like Cla rk, but putting her on that viper olympic squad could ruin her forever. The other players have been kicking her around for weeks. It’s time to rest. No one will watch without her, exactly as in previous years.” Others, however, disagreed, with many arguing that leaving Clark off the primary roster was a major mistake for the Olympic basketball squad.

Opinions are polarized on Caitlin Clark not making the Olympics team.

Caitlin Clark, one of the WNBA’s most well-known players, would definitely attract a large number of spectators to the 2024 Summer Olympics, and others believe that her absence from the women’s basketball squad was a bad decision. Front Office Sports journalist Michael McCarthy tweeted, “Leaving Caitlin Clark off the Olympic team is terrible for NBC Sports, which pays billions of dollars for U.S. TV rights.” She would have certainly energized Olympic television audiences in college and now in the pros. This decision is far from shortsighted.” However, one fan claimed, “She’s simply not good enough. Top NBA rookies would not make Team USA either. Let us not belittle the game because of its popularity. Another remarked, “She currently has better numbers than 41-year-old Diana Taurasi, who will compete in her SIXTH Olympics. Was 5 Olympics insufficient for Taurasi?”

The Olympic roster is surely packed of veterans. Breanna Stewart, Brittney Griner, and Jackie Young have already competed in the quadrennial sports event, as has Diana Taurasi. Sabrina Ionescu, Kahleah Copper, and Alyssa Thomas are the only basketball players competing for the first time. However, the Olympics newcomers have more experience playing in the WNBA than Clark, which is why she was not selected this year.

Caitlin Clark was too new in the WNBA for the Olympics.

Many would argue that Caitlin Clark possesses the necessary skills to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics, but the panel just did not believe she had enough experience. According to Jen Rizzotti, the head of the USA Basketball selection committee, Clark’s rising fans did not influence their decision to exclude him from this year’s games. “It would be irresponsible of us to discuss her in any way other than how she might affect the team’s play. Because it was not the responsibility of our committee to determine how many people would watch or root for the United States. “It was our responsibility to build the best team possible for [Coach Cheryl Reeve],” Rizzotti said.

Clark’s status as a top alternate has yet to be formally validated.Brittney Griner missed 10 games due to a broken toe, according to ESPN and the Arizona Republic, but has since returned.
