Chase Young sustained a stinger injury to his neck during the Washington Commanders’ preseason opener last year. Young missed the opening game of the 2023 season due to an injury, but he recovered to play the final 16 regular season games and three playoff games.

“#SaintsNewOrleans Saints 2024-2025 HASHMOJIDE Chase Young, who had offseason neck surgery, received a great evaluation from renowned neck specialist Dr. Robert Watkins during a check-up this week, according to sources. He’ll have more testing in around six weeks, but he intends to participate in training camp.”
Tanoh Kpassagnon, a defensive end, will likely miss the most of the 2024 season due to an Achilles injury, joining Chase Young.
Kpassagnon’s injury weakened the Saints’ defensive end depth.
Injuries to Young and Kpassagnon have reduced the New Orleans Saints’ defensive end depth.
Carl Granderson and Cameron Jordan are their predicted starters. Granderson is coming off his greatest statistical season as a professional, with 78 tackles, 14 TFLs, and 8.5 sacks. Jordan is coming off one of his poorest statistical seasons as a professional, with 43 tackles, three TFLs, and two sacks.
Their top two backups, excluding Young and Kpassagnon, are Payton Turner and Isaiah Foskey. Turner has missed 36 of 51 possible regular-season games due to injury and healthy scratches, and he has been ineffective when he has played, totaling 29 tackles, eight TFLs, and three sacks. Foskey didn’t play much as a rookie, appearing in ten games and registering nine tackles on 83 defensive snaps.
The Saints cannot afford any further injuries to their defensive ends. Granderson, Jordan, and Young must stay healthy throughout the season.
