Cincinnati Reds centre fielder TJ Friedl departed Monday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fifth inning due to right hamstring soreness after making a diving grab.
Following the Reds’ 4-1 loss, Friedl stated that his leg has full range of motion.
Friedl moved far to his right to catch Nick Gonzales’ line drive into the left-center field gap. Friedl waited on the field for a few moments before walking off on his own, joined by manager David Bell and sports trainer Tomas Vera.
Friedl has been on the disabled list twice this season, first for a fractured right wrist and later for a fractured left thumb. Friedl has batted in 23 games so far this season.214, four home runs.
