SHOCKING NEWS: Wife of NHRA’s Most Prolific Driver John Force Issues A Shocking and Surprise Medical Update on John Force Following Devastating Crash

This past weekend, NHRA Funny Car driver John Force was engaged in a horrific accident caused by an engine explosion. The 16-time Funny Car champion crawled out of the wreckage with help from the NHRA Safety Safari and was flown to a local trauma centre by chopper. Force competed at the NHRA Virginia Nationals, which were held at Virginia Motorsports Park south of Richmond

NHRA legend John Force was 'conscious and talking' after 'catastrophic engine failure' led to crash, team says | Fox News
The incident occurred during the first round of competition, when his supercharged Hemi engine failed catastrophically, resulting in many crashes with the retaining walls. Force won easily over Terry Haddock and raced through the traps at speeds above 300 mph. The engine blew, and Force appeared to fight to maintain control of his Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car, which drifted from the right lane to the left, colliding with the wall at high speed. The car then moved across the course and collided with the right side’s concrete barrier.

Force was disturbed by the impact as the safety crew placed him on a gurney and brought him to a local trauma centre for evaluation. John Force Racing, which now fields three nitro-burning racecars and has 22 NHRA championships under its belt, has issued two brief and ambiguous remarks on the Force’s situation.

The most recent release, approximately 24 hours after the accident, confesses he is in ICU, and his four daughters and wife are present at the hospital. According to sources close to the club, his status is closely monitored, and the injuries could be catastrophic. The doctors are taking their time exposing the degree of the injuries due to the severity of the accident, and they will not provide a treatment and recovery assessment.
