Following a heartbreaking loss on Thursday, the Philadelphia Phillies (54-28) defeated the Miami Marlins (29-53) on Friday night at Citizens Bank Park. On Saturday afternoon, the two teams will line up for Game 3.
Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber were placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday, and the Phillies won 2-0 thanks to starter Cristopher Sánchez’s first career complete-game shutout. The lefty dominated the Marlins, striking out nine, allowing only three hits, and walking none.
The Phillies scored twice, on a Bryson Stott fielder’s choice groundout in the fifth and a Johan Rojas run in the eighth. Rojas, who had just returned from Triple-A, utilized his electrifying speed to stretch a single into a double before advancing to third on a ball that zipped away from Marlins catcher Ali Sánchez. Stott added his second RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly, bringing Rojas home for the insurance run.

Aaron Nola (9-3) will start for the Phillies. He has a 3.39 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP going into his 17th start of the season. In his last appearance, the righty held Detroit to one run on six hits and struck out six in seven innings.
Roddery Muñoz (1-3) will counter for the Marlins. The 24-year-old right-hander has a 5.80 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP after seven starts. He has allowed 11 runs (10 earned) in his last two starts. Muñoz allowed six home runs, struck out seven, and walked six in his two games.
